Is CVS Open on Christmas 2026?
CVS is one of the few chains that doesn't fully close on Christmas. Here's the verified 2026 answer.
Summary
Many CVS stores are open on Christmas Day 2026 (Friday, December 25) with reduced hours — typically around 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, based on recent years. But hours vary a lot by location: pharmacy counters are often closed, MinuteClinics are closed, and 24-hour stores run their normal schedule. The 2026 schedule hasn't been announced yet. On Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24), many stores run roughly 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The single most important point
CVS is your Christmas Day fallback for essentials — but 'the store is open' and 'the pharmacy is open' are two different questions, and hours vary wildly, so confirm your specific location before going.
Quick facts
| Status | Christmas hours | Regular hours | Official source |

| Limited hours | 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM (reduced; varies) | Mon–Sun 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM (varies) | HoursGuide — CVS 2026 holiday table |
What are CVS’s Christmas hours?
Unlike the big-box chains, CVS doesn't shut down on Christmas Day — but 'open' comes with caveats. The typical pattern: retail floor around 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM at many locations, while pharmacy counters are often closed and MinuteClinics are closed company-wide.
As always with CVS, the big asterisk: hours vary enormously by location. Some stores run near-normal hours, others cut back sharply, and 24-hour locations just run their normal schedule through the holiday. The 8 AM–9 PM Christmas window is the common pattern, not a rule — and they haven't announced the 2026 schedule yet.
On Christmas Eve, many stores run roughly 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM (the 2025 pattern). Bottom line: CVS is a reasonable Christmas Day option for essentials, but check your specific store's hours first — especially the pharmacy.
