Is Kroger Open on Christmas 2026?
Kroger stays open on Thanksgiving but draws the line at Christmas. Here's the verified 2026 answer.
Summary
Kroger is closed on Christmas Day 2026 (Friday, December 25) — the only day of the year Kroger fully closes. That's the long-standing policy, though the official 2026 schedule isn't out yet. On Christmas Eve (Thursday, December 24), most stores run reduced hours, usually around 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM — but hours vary by division and location. Regular hours resume Saturday, December 26.
The single most important point
Christmas Day is Kroger's one hard closure all year — the same chain that stays open on Thanksgiving goes fully dark, so do the holiday grocery run by Christmas Eve afternoon at the latest.

What are Kroger’s Christmas hours?
Kroger's the odd one out on this page: it's the only major chain we cover that stays open on Thanksgiving, yet Christmas Day is Kroger's one full-closure day of the year. Every location — grocery floor and pharmacy alike — is closed on Friday, December 25, 2026. That's long-standing company policy.
Christmas Eve is the day to plan around. Most locations run reduced hours, typically around 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 24, based on recent years — but Kroger hours vary by division, so the 6 AM–6 PM window is typical, not guaranteed. Pharmacy counters usually close earlier than the grocery floor.
Regular hours (typically 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM) resume Saturday, December 26. With Kroger, always call your local store — division-level variation is real.
